Installing mods

Modded servers need a mod loader: Forge, Fabric or NeoForge. You cannot mix them.

1. Pick your loader

LoaderBest for
FabricPerformance mods, lightweight packs
NeoForgeModern 1.20.2+ modpacks
ForgeLegacy packs, older versions

Change it under panel → Startup (server type + version). The loader installs on next boot.

2. Add the mods

  1. Download mods from CurseForge or Modrinth for the exact same game version and loader.
  2. Panel → Files → mods/ folder → upload every .jar.
  3. Restart.

WARNING

Client-side vs server-side: mods that add blocks/items/mobs must be installed on both server and every player. Purely visual or HUD mods are client-only — check the mod page's "Environment" field.

3. Modpacks

For a full pack (ATM, Create: Above and Beyond, etc.):

  1. Download the server pack, not the client zip.
  2. Upload and extract via Files → Unarchive.
  3. Point Startup → JAR File at the pack's forge-*.jar / fabric-server-launch.jar.
  4. Start and watch the console for missing-mod errors.

RAM guidance

Modded eats RAM. A rough starting point:

  • Light Fabric pack: 4 GB
  • Medium pack: 6–8 GB
  • Heavy pack (ATM10): 10–12 GB+
